RSK Orbital’s innovative aerial survey software - ViSiVi was recently employed by French company, Synerail in order to identify suitable locations for the implementation of GSM-R masts along the French railway network.

SNCF1

Gaps in GSM-R coverage could cause a loss of communication between train and railway regulation control centres, significantly compromising passenger safety.  The Identification of suitable mast locations is therefore a vitally important yet exceptionally time-consuming task that could potentially occupy numerous personnel.

SynerailViSiVi’s high-resolution oblique aerial photography, mapping and collaboration capabilities enabled project managers and engineers to visualise, zoom-in and annotate structures and features along the railway with superb clarity and accuracy.

The detail in the elevation element of the images gave a real world context to the engineers who, as a result, significantly eliminated wasteful or unnecessary site visits by identifying appropriate sites from the comfort of the office.
